Kirkwood

 

Kirkwood was established in 1853 as the first planned residential commuter suburb west of the Mississippi. The city is named after James Pugh Kirkwood who was the engineer in charge of locating, surveying, and building the railroad that runs through Kirkwood. Today the city is Nine square miles in size and home to approximately 30,000 people. Kirkwood boasts safe neighborhoods, outstanding schools, walkable shopping and restaurants, and 300 acres of park land.
